Before & After | Waterford Game Room

“It lacked a homey feel,” she said.

So many white walls, and no family photos. She had tons of inspiration, but she needed help pulling it all together. Our client was ready to bring this blank slate to life.

SO, we got to work!

With the goal of creating a secondary living space, that would serve as the Game Room for all the teenagers in this family, our client started collecting ideas. Spurs jerseys, saxophones, storage and a big old candy bar were “must haves.” The couch would stay. How could we make this a place that allllll the high schoolers would want to hang?

Challenge accepted!

The scale of this room is hard to grasp in images–it is HUGE! We ran custom cabinetry along the Media wall, to hide components and grounded the tall ceilings with a warm colored cabinet. Wallpaper with a metallic touch added a bit of glam to this neutral space, and plays well off the adjacent saxophones. A layered plushy rug invites lounging and the asymmetrical woven pendants provide balance to the floor to ceiling storage. Fun fact: we did not move the TV!

Rainbow LED lights were installed UNDER the cabinets, for a really fun evening surprise!

Having a quiet space to study for big exams was a big priority, so we used an existing dining room table to provide much needed “desk space” that doubles as a game table. Woven chairs marry the pendants to the other half of the room, and help add an organic element to this modern home.

You can’t have a proper Game Room in San Antonio, without some iconic Spurs Jerseys–aren’t they fab! This room is ready for sports, games, and a jam session!

This home had niches that were begging for an interesting design. We added a beverage fridge and some edgy black tile to make the backsplash contrast with the rest of this wall. Adding family photos softens and personalizes this fun hangout spot!

Can design create connection? This room is proof. Give the kids a place to go, and they will go there. Make it cozy, functional, and fun, and they may just stick around for awhile!

By the time we were done installing, our kitty friend was ready to kick us out, and stake claim. I think she’d argue that this room isn’t just for kids!
