Our Favorite Light Fixtures (and bulbs!)

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is “where do I find light fixtures?” followed closely thereafter with “how do I choose the right lightbulbs?”

As we move into Fall, and enter the darker months of the year, we want to share some of our favorite light fixtures (and bulbs!) to help your home shine brighter!

In our recent article How to Select Light Fixtures that Delight and Soothe You, we share our best practices for how to pick the best lights for your space. Now, we’re going to give you some to shop for!

Dining Room chandeliers can make a big statement. How do you select the right size chandelier? A good rule of thumb is to select a fixture that is one half to two-thirds the width of the table. Mount the fixture 30-34 inches above the table (or slightly higher if you have tall ceilings). Here are some that we love:

Wall Sconces can add a custom touch, and don’t always require hard wired electrical for installation. We love to use them above or beside art, above windows, or adjacent to desks, to keep the surface clear.

Even if you have dimmable recessed can lights, a light fixture can be a nice focal point if your ceilings are above eight feet tall. Opt for something large, and sprawling, to illuminate as much of the room as possible.

Just say no to the “boob light” right?! (If you don’t know what that is, click here) Flush Mount lighting is a great option for a hallway, foyer, or porch.

Our preference is for LED bulbs, as they use less energy (75% less), emit less heat, and last a lot longer than incandescent bulbs.
