Waterford Gallery Hall: Before & After
After moving around a lot for my husband’s medical education & training, I learned that the quickest way to make a new house feel like home, is to hang pictures on the wall. After many years of working with clients, I see how many struggle with getting those frames up & on display.
Since personal and meaningful homes are what I go to sleep dreaming of, I nearly insist that my clients work a gallery wall into every space we design. And I’ve not once had a client who regretted it.
Which brings me to this month’s Before & After reveal — a transformation inspired entirely by the creation of a gallery wall. Come take a look…
Meet the Waterford Project
When we first stepped foot into the Waterford Project‘s empty hallway, I knew it could become something spectacular. Our client had dreams of a hallway full of family memories, and we could not wait to help her make this happen.
Before & After: Waterford Gallery Hall
Before, the hallway was painted a crisp white, making it feel ice cold. We knew that the right furnishings and decor could warm up the space and make it a place where the family would love to spend time.
In our initial conversations, we discovered that our client loves color found in nature, so we built the concept around a love for the sea and sky, pulling in beautiful blues and whites, with fresh plants and the calming hill country view as our complementary design elements.
Adding a series of beautiful, organic shaped chandeliers down the hall helped warm it up, and so does the series of runners, pictured below.
Several long wall ledges loaded with frames of varying heights accommodate a collection of images that the family can easily swap out over time.
Textural swivel chairs were set on a shapely faux hide, offering a cozy spot to sit and soak in the view — a wall full of special people and sweet family memories.
Who knew that comfortable furnishings, a meaningful gallery wall, stunning lighting, and of course, artful placement could make this formerly frigid space so inviting?
Next week, I’ll be sharing some of our tips for creating your own gallery wall, along with several favorite finds for gallery wall essentials. Stay tuned…
xoxo,
Shawna
