How to Style Your Foyer & Entryway
The foyer has the power to set your home’s tone, so why not give it the attention it deserves? Style it up, so it can offer a warm welcome to your friends and family!
Keeping it simple is something we value here at Styleberry, and the Foyer is no exception. We think of the Foyer as a statement space, with a side of function.
Just like any space we design, our first question is going to be “what must happen here?” followed by “what do you want to happen here?” Then, we start building the foundation.
Step One: Select your foyer’s main, foundational piece of furniture
Often this is a sideboard, a chest, or a foyer table. Does the foyer need storage? What will it store? This will inform your big decisions. Sometimes we really need this area to function well, and a bench + hanging storage is the smartest use of space. This is a personal decision!
Step Two: Select wall art or a hanging storage solution for above the foundation.
Use the 2/3 rule here: whatever you place above the table, chest or bench, be sure it’s at least 2/3 the width of the piece of furniture below. This will ensure it’s to the proper scale! The biggest mistake we see? Small scale art. Go big here!
Step Three: Light and style your foyer!
We love adding a table lamp and a stack of books to this space. A candle will offer a delightful sensory experience when you walk in the door. Fresh greens are always beautiful. & don’t forget the baskets! Whether they are for shoes or for recycling the mail that heads in the door with you, baskets are very useful in an entryway.
Whether it’s a simple passthrough, or a true workhorse, your Foyer is an excellent spot to have a little fun! Here are some pieces to help you style them up!
