Why We’re Your Long-Term Relationship Designer
Sometimes long-term relationships work & sometimes they don’t, but we can probably all agree that when expectations match, it’s pure magic. Working with us is no different.
If you’ve been following along for some time now, you probably already know that we’re a different kind of design firm seeking a different kind of design client. Our clients are unique – they want to have a hand in their project, but they don’t know where to start and they want everything already buttoned-up and easy when they dive in.
That’s where we come in. We work hard to get to know you — so much so that we find that we often unlock the dream! This allows us to deliver exactly what you need to execute your vision. You gain more confidence & joy in the process and… surprise, surprise… are going to love coming back to us again and again.
Here’s the process & the proof…
How We Build Long-Term Relationships with Clients
At any given time, at least ⅓ of our project load is repeat clients – it’s even been up to ¾ at times! Those percentages are compelling, & to us, they’re the ultimate honor. We strive to get to know you and your lifestyle & to make it easy to come back and design with us time & time again… even if you decide that you want to move homes (gasp!) right as we complete your design!
Just as with any LTR, shared values play a huge part in how we stay connected with our clients. These are a few critical ones at the heart of our relationships:
Trait 1: Trust
Our clients trust our input & strategic direction from the very start, and that’s not something we take lightly. When one phase of a project is complete, our clients often build their budget back up & come to us again, ready to trust us to make their home cohesively designed over time.
Trait 2: Organized Go-getter
Organization is key to the way we run our business, & we find that our clients appreciate the structure of our thoughtful process. Like us, our clients share this trait and are capable of using our organized Online Studio & execute the plans as we design them.
Trait 3: Excitement
Unlike most design firms, we take on one-room projects and have found that the delight after completing the first room is addicting – clients come back eager to work with us again. We genuinely love seeing our clients over & over, and we love watching their taste & confidence develop. Every project is more fun than the last!
Trait 4: Open-Mindedness
I’ll be honest, sometimes we have crazy ideas that come from a client’s big wishlist. We push boundaries on style, flow & function to harmonize the whole home. Our clients are open to these ideas, and our repeat clients are open to transforming spaces in new ways as their tastes evolve over time. (Yes, we have designed the same space more than once!)
Long-Term Relationship Case Study: Our Wildrose Project
Want an inside look at what it’s like to be a repeat client? So glad you asked! (Spoiler alert: There are some notable nuances!.)
Meet our Wildrose clients. With 2 of their 3 kids out of the house, they began a downsizing journey a few years ago & moved to their Ogden Lane Home with their youngest child. After spending some time in the home, they realized it was a bit too much of a downsize for them and their 2 big pups, so they sought something less cottagey & more elevated. They landed on a Santa Barbara new-ish build not far from Alamo Heights.
The couple reached out to us to help design their new space, & obviously, we were thrilled to work with them again. And fun fact: this new home, dubbed Wildrose, is the 3rd home of theirs we’ve been in! Safe to say, they’re big Styleberry fans, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
We kicked off their new project with a Strategy Consult, an off-menu item often used when we embark on a large project. During this meeting, we discussed which of the couple’s furnishings should stay & which should go into storage. We found a home for most of the upstairs family room furniture, & since the sectional was modular, we re-designed its shape to fit the new Den/workout room.
Remember that gorgeous textured coffee table? It wasn’t the right fit for the workout room since the Peloton classes needed floor space, so we designed the whole new Living Room around it. A well-deserved honor, don’t you think?
The couple had a rug in storage that was perfect for the ancillary formal dining space, & that piece set the color palette. We coordinated a new rug to layer over their jute rug in the Living Room, and brought in new pieces to fill the space. The last item that needed a home was their beloved family piano, so we strategically placed some antiques & designed a gallery wall that made it feel like it belonged.
Finally, we created a beautiful breakfast reading nook off the kitchen – a sunny space to sip morning coffee together as a couple since they are now empty nesters.
